Some old nails from September

I haven't had a chance to paint my nails these past few days, what with classes starting and getting a bunch more hours at work. I'll try to do some tomorrow or Friday, promise (: For now, these are some very old pictures (okay, not that old) that I've had lying around on my computer.

I've been proven wrong.

The other day I stated that Beautyburg was having the best giveaway ever... but sadly they have been bumped to second place!! Konad-licious is having a HUGE 1000 FOLLOWER GIVEAWAY! Just take a peek at this picture!

YOU DO NOT want to miss out on this giveaway! Go go go!

China Glaze Virtual Violet

This is two coats of China Glaze's Virtual Violet, from the new Tronica collection. You could go with one coat, but it's still a bit sheer. One thin coat could also be used well for layering. The holo isn't always evident.. sometimes it merely looks like a silver shimmer. Most of the time, though, it throws beautiful rainbows (:

Meow!

Since my smiley nails were such a hit at the daycare, I decided today I would do cat nails! I used two coats of OPI You Don't Know Jacques! Matte, and did the faces using nail stripers. I added two coats of Seche Vite so it wouldn't chip so quickly, but when I got up this morning they already were.

Maybe it's because the topcoat made the brown so dark, but I just don't like how these came out at all.

In other news, Beautyburg is having an ENORMOUS GIVEAWAY!! Go and enter now!! It ends on the 31st. Just LOOK at what they're giving away! It's probably the best giveaway I've ever seen:

OPI Catch Me in Your Net

This colour is SO pretty! Its a deep turquoise with a ton of blue, green and lime shimmer. Two coats is perfect- this is with no topcoat, and after 3 days of wear! Whenever I was in the sun, I couldn't stop looking at it!

Over the weekend, I went to an antique store with my family. My dad bought me these earrings made out of Scrabble pieces- With Audrey Hepburn photos!!!

I have mixed feelings about this one...

This is two coats of OPI Suede Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees, two coats. Application was flawless, like mosts OPIs.

On one hand, I absolutely ADORE this colour. It's probably one of my favourite shades! However, on the other hand.. this picture was taken 45 minutes after I painted them! I have a love/hate relationship with mattes. They are so beautiful and I love the finish, but they rarely last more than a few hours. I constantly have to touch up the tips. When I went to take of the polish, though, it was a total pain in the arse! It wouldn't budge. Final say: I'd pick this one up just for the incredible colour. It's definitely worth the touchups.

Smile!

I work at a daycare, and I figured these would make the kids smile- and they did!
I used two coats of Avon NailPro in Sunshine, and stripers for the faces. The Avon was streaky, uneven, and thick.. just generally difficult to apply, but the colour is gorgeous.

Three coats of LA Girl 'Head Banging'

One coat of FemmeCouture 'Tinsel'

and one coat of Seche Vite!

They remind me of a mermaid. Formula on HB was alright- three coats and still had some VNL. Tinsel was excellent, dried very quick. A little gritty- needs a topcoat to be completely smooth.
These pictures don't capture the rainbowy silver holo-ness of the glitter.. its shown as a true silver. However, this isn't the case. (:

Sorry for the mess- no cleanup today!

Christmas Nails

The thumb is painted with OPI's Comet Loves Cupid. Then I drew on the white with a Sally Hansen nail art pen in white. I added red glitter with an Art Deco striper.
The thumb is done in a white Orly color, I can't remember the name. I added the facial features with Art Deco stripers.
The middle finger is the gingerbread man from Shrek, done with a brown OPI Matte, with the facial features done in stripers.
Ring finger is a gold OPI with China Glaze's Party Hearty (2 coats). The pinky is green glitter Art Deco striper + white SH pen.
I really loath how this turned out. I never used a topcoat, and the white pen just wore off. I think it is just a hot mess, TBH!
